ROOFING FAQs

How long does an asphalt shingle roof last?

Some factors such as weather and quality/thickness of the shingles can affect the lifespan of a roof; however, the an asphalt shingled roof will typically last 20-25 years.

How do I know if/when I need a new roof?

If there are obvious signs of damage or leaks, it’s time for at least a roof repair, if not a roof replacement.  Other indicators that it’s time for a new roof may include curling shingles, brittle or broken shingles, missing shingles, algae or moss growth on shingles, or loss of granules, which can often be seen collecting in gutters.

Will my Homeowners insurance cover the cost of a new roof?

Sometimes!  It depends on whether or not there was a coverfed cause of loss.  If your roof was damaged by wind, the weight of ice or snow, ice dams, fire, lightning, or a falling object, your homeowners insurance will most likely cover the cost of a new roof. If your shingles have merely exceeded their useful lifespan, that is considered wear and tear and is not covered by Homeowners insurance.

SIDING FAQs

What is the best siding for my house?

Vinyl siding is a very popular choice based on its price, durability, and versatility. Vinyl siding comes in a vast array of colors, textures, shapes, and can even realistically simulate more expensive siding materials such as natural stone or brick. With little to no maintenance, vinyl siding can last 50-60 years. With preventative maintenance such as periodic power washing, you can expect your vinyl siding to last up to 100 years.

How do I know if it’s time to replace my siding?

If you see any evidence of cracked, warped or damaged siding, you likely need new siding or at the very least repairs to your siding. If there is any missing siding, that requires immediate repairs or else you may sustain a much greater loss from interior water damage to your home and belongings.  If you’ve noticed paint peeling inside your home, or higher energy bills, either of those may be an indication that your siding is no longer providing an effective barrier to the elements and needs to be replaced.

How much does it cost to side my home?

There are so many variables, it is impossible to say. The size of your home, the type of siding and the quality of siding you select will determine the cost. We can help you select the best materials for the job and provide you with a free estimate.
